PCA Super High Roller Event kicks off Thursday

The super High Rollers $100k buy-in event has began a little after noon on Thursday at the 2011 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure hosted at the Atlantis Resort & Casino in The Bahamas. A total of 34 players ponied up the massive buy in to play today. Each player receives 250,000 chips with two hour levels.

Conspicuous in their absence are any of the big Full Tilt sponsored pros like Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan and company. Dan "Jungleman12" Cates is playing, as is Guy "Cirque 'd Soleil" Laliberte, Ashton "theASHMAN103" Griffin, recent WPT winner Antonio Esfandiari and David Benyamine.

For those who enjoy super high stakes tournament play, there will be time delayed ESPN2 coverage of the High Roller's final table on Saturday the 8th.

Also beginning Thursday is the deep sea fishing portion of the $2,300 buy-in Fish and Chips tournament.

Day 1 A of the PCA main event begins Saturday and is expected to generate a massive prize pool of over $20 million. Last year's winner, 21 year old Harrison Gimbel walked away with $2.2 million.

There are 48 total events, many of which are between $1k-$5k buy-in events, including the World Cup of Poker, The Ladies Tournament, a $5k NAPT Bounty Shoutout, $5k PLO tournament, and the regular $25k High Roller event.
