Team Falcons continue their reign with FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2 victory

Reigning world champions, Team Falcons, had defeated BetBoom Team 3-1 to win FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2.

Reigning Dota 2 world champions, Team Falcons, have continued their dominance heading into the new season by winning the US$1 million FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2 tournament earlier today, 3 November. Falcons defeated BetBoom Team 3–1 in the grand finals, held live in Belgrade, Serbia to win US$300,000 in prize money and a US$50,000 Club reward.

This victory marks yet another occasion in Falcons’ glorious chapter, coming just two months after their triumph at The International (TI) 2025. At the championship, Team Falcons fought their way through a grueling lower-bracket journey to ultimately defeat the unexpected finalists, Xtreme Gaming, in the grand finals. With that win, they claimed the world champion title, becoming the 11th organisation in history to lift the Aegis of Champions.

Typically, Dota world champions show a pattern of struggle in maintaining their dominance following their TI victory. However, Team Falcons have prevailed that tangent, at least for now, as they continue to assert their top team status with this latest achievement.

Their FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2 win crowns them as the first major tournament champions of the post-TI 2025 season. While BLAST Slam IV officially kicked off the Tier 1 competitive calendar on 14 October, the FISSURE event ran during BLAST’s off days, concluding just before the BLAST Playoffs begin.

Falcons took down BetBoom to win FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2

The FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2 tournament featured a formidable lineup, including heavyweights such as Team Spirit, Team Liquid, and BetBoom, along with emerging challengers like Team Yandex and MOUZ.

In the Group Stage, Falcons delivered a flawless performance, winning three consecutive series to secure the top spot in the standings. However, their Playoffs run started off poor, when they were upset by underdogs MOUZ in the opening round.

That loss immensely spotlighted MOUZ as a rising force, as they were capable of taking down the world champions. But, Falcons once again proved that they perform best when they have their backs against the wall. The team embarked on a lengthy lower-bracket run, eliminating a strong lineup of Tundra Esports, Team Spirit, Team Liquid, and Team Yandex to earn their place in the grand finals.

In the culmination series, Falcons put on a dominant performance, defeating BetBoom 3–1 in a swift reverse sweep. While BetBoom showed strong resistance on the fourth map, they ultimately failed to push the series to a deciding game, falling to Falcons’ well-known late-game prowess.

This latest victory further solidifies Team Falcons’ position as the top contender in the new season. It also marks their third consecutive title this year–following their earlier win at FISSURE Universe Episode 6, which took place just before TI 2025.

While their dominance is consistent, Falcons have shown that they can also bleed with occasional losses here and there. However, the team repeatedly proved their ability to deliver when it matters most. But the question is–how far can they keep up this form? The new Dota 2 season is only just beginning, and more high-stakes tournaments are on the horizon.

Looking Ahead: BLAST Slam IV Playoffs

The next major showdown is just around the corner, as teams prepare for the BLAST Slam IV Playoffs. The million-dollar tournament will bring together the final six teams–including Team Falcons–at the Singapore Indoor Stadium from 7–9 November.

The winner will not only claim the fourth BLAST Slam title but also make history by lifting the trophy in front of BLAST’s first-ever live Dota 2 audience.
