In two quick games, the Russian team - AntiHype - took down their opponents, Mousesports, and secured the top spot at the WESG Europe and CIS regional qualifiers finals.
Mousesports saw themselves facing up against AntiHype in the grand finals of the World Electronic Sports Games Europe finals. The finals would see the top 12 teams all qualifying for the WESG finals event, taking place in 2018. The Greeks of Mousesports faced a team who had only dropped a single game throughout the play-off stage of the event and Antihype came into the finals looking like the favourites. Without many problems the Russian team, made quick work of Mouse, taking them down in a straight 2-0 sweep and under 40 minutes in both games.
At the same time, the 3rd/4th place playoff match was underway – which saw UAshki going up against Team Ukraine. Team Ukraine had made a splendid run through the play-offs, losing only to Antihype in the semi-finals., while UAshki were dropped into the 3rd place match up by Mousesports. Team Ukraine, continuing on their brilliant performances through the playoffs, took down their opponents in a clean 2-0 sweep as well, with barely 90 minutes of time played.
While all of the top twelve teams qualify for the WESG finals, the prize pool was broken up in the following way:
1st Place: $40,000 – Antihype
2nd Place: $20,000 – mousesports
3rd Place: $10,000 – Team Ukraine
4th Place: $6,500 – Uashki
5th-8th Place: $4,000 – Ultima_Thule, Team Sweden, ANT E-Sports, Team Romania
9th-12th Place: $0 – Team Germany, Team Finland, Team Netherlands, Team Serbia
Currently, only the China and Europe plus CIS qualifiers for WESG have been decided with the Americas region and APAC qualifier coming out way over the course of the next few months. All qualified teams will head to the main event, taking place next and featuring a massive $1,500 000 prize pool to be split between the top 16 out of 32 participating teams.
