The Perfect World Masters will see an all Chinese grand finals on the home soil of Shanghai as Vici Gaming will take on Newbee in a rematch for the championship title.
compLexity Gaming had the honor and pressure of being the only non Chinese team remaining in the top 4. Heading into the fourth day of the main event of The Perfect World Masters, the NA team's impressive season was winding up with another set of TI8 qualifying points to add to their collection. They weren't the only ones though, as all of the remaining teams have already accumulated Pro Circuit points as well - bringing forward an afternoon of stiff competition.
With both LFY and compLexity Gaming surviving the death round in the first lower bracket best-of-one series, then advancing through lower brackets for round to and then round three their clash was expected to be an exciting series. Pushing through to a third game to determine the winner, it was LFY that would be left standing at the end, rounding out a full Chinese podium and guaranteeing a full Chinese grand finals. compLexity Gaming slid into a commendable fourth place position for their efforts with 15 TI8 qualifying points and $18,000 to take home.
LFY moved on to face Vici Gaming who had been relegated to the lower brackets after losing to Newbee earlier in the day 2:1. A dominant performance by VG in two back to back games, thrust LFY into third place with 45 TI8 qualifying points and a $30,000 consolation prize.
Perfect World Masters Lower Brackets Round 3:
LFY 2:1 compLexity Gaming
The first match of the series seemed to get started with a slow pace, but once compLexity struck out with firstblood they didn't back off. A very strong beginning for coL turned inot a very one sided match in their favor as they ran over LFY and claimed the first victory in only 26 minutes. LFY adjusted quickly and reset their approach after being stomped on. A clear dominant performance by the Chinese team showed they should not be underestimaated or taunted so easily. Slaughtering compLexity a third deciding match was set. With both teams facing elimination, the last game started very aggressive, each team hungry for blood early on. An awkward initation by coL for a team fight would end up becoming a big win for LFY to blow the game wide open. compLexity fought valiantly to take back control and keep their tournament dreams alive, but the gyrocpoter and composure of LFY would prove to be too much for them as LFY closed out the third game in their favor.
Perfect World Masters Lower Brackets Finals:
ViCi Gaming 2:0 LFY
The all Chinese lower bracket finals got started with a strong showing for ViCi Gaming. Two missed chronos from LFY early on and a morphling for VG that was getting out of control quickly, LFY had no real answers to ViCi Gaming's advances and strength. They fell quickly to VG with barely any contest. Trying to shut down the Chaos Knight, LFY were able to start out more even with VG for the second game. Playing around their cool downs and stellar coordination, VG once again took control of the game about 13 minutes in and didn't let go of their grip until LFY called a surprising 'GG' at 18 minutes.
Tomorrow the event will wrap up with the highly anticipated, all Chinese Grand Finals between Newbee and ViCi Gaming The best-of-five series starts at 09:00 CET.
