compLexity Gaming and LFY prevailed as Mineski, Vega Squadron, Team Kinguin and Team Secret said goodbye to their minor dreams in The Perfect World Masters.
The third day of the main event at The Perfect World Masters was a heartbreaker for four teams. Both Mineski and Vega were victims of the savage best-of-one elimination series. With their victories, LFY and compLexity Gaming were able to hold on to their dreams for at least another series. Both teams advanced another step to face off against two European teams - Team Kinguin and Team Secret that had been knocked out in the upper brackets by the Chinese frontrunners.
At the end of the day, both compLexity Gaming and LFY had survived the lower bracket run and were left standing and able to secure at least $18,000 and 15 of the TI8 qualifying points.
Perfect World Masters Lower Brackets Round 1:
compLexity 1:0 Mineski
The brutal elimination game between compLexity and Mineski was a thrilling game that looked like it was going to favor Mineski until compLexity came online. Armed with the stand out performances from the core Swedish brothers, the NA team turned around the entire game with a powerful team fight. The more than 4k gold swing and game advantage was enough for coL to dig their teeth into and close out the game with a victory just over 10 minutes later. Their win advanced them further in the lower brackets and knocked Mineski out of the tournament.
LFY 1:0 Vega Squadron
LFY were favored going into the unforgiving best-of-one series and were merciless on their attack on the CIS team. Overwhelming Vega in just over 20 minutes, they had no chance to turn things around. A stand out and flawless performance by Leong "DDC" Fat-meng on Witchdoctor was a highlight to the match. LFY's victory eliminated Vega Squadron and allowed another Chinese team to continue their journey on their home turf.
Perfect World Masters Lower Brackets Round 2:
compLexity 2:1 Team Kinguin
The European underdogs went head to head with the NA band of brothers who have already shown considerable improvements this year and secured impressive results. The first match compLexity threw their weight and confidence around with a very smooth and clean victory over Kinguin. The Polish squad came out in the second match with the tenacity and grit that fans have come to know from them and fought back hard. CompLexity was leading for most of the game, littered with peaks and valleys in that advantage but able to maintain a grip on being ahead. It only took one bad fight around the Roshan pit 35 minutes in for the gold to swing by 8k into Kinguin's favor and give them momentum and opening htey needed. Taking full control, they went straight into the base and closed out the game in less than 8 minutes, forcing a third deciding game. The last match started off strong for Kinguin in the laning phase, but compLexity's draft was designed to be much stronger mid to late game and once the Chaos Knight was able to get going, there was nothing that could stop compLexity's lineup. CoL's win has granted the NA team a top 4 finish and ended Kinguin's commendable run in their first minor.
LFY 2:0 Team Secret
LFY came out of the gates swinging and aggressive and looking for blood in Game 1. The Chinese team just ran all over Team Secret, destroying them with relative ease. Team Secret started out stronger in the second game and looking ready to take back some control. LFY started to chip away at the Team Secret's slight lead and then a poor fight at Roshan for Team Secret cemented LFY's position in the game. Another two great teams fight for LFY pretty much ended the hopes for Team Secret to find their way back into the match and series.
The action continues tomorrow at 03:00 CET with the Upper Bracket finals between Newbee and Vici Gaming followed by the Lower Bracket Round 3 between compLexity Gaming and LFY then ending with the Lower Bracket finals.
