WESG will be touching down in Malaysia soon, bringing gaming fans from across the country to Kuala Lumpur to compete.
The World Electronic Sports Games boasts hundreds of teams and players from a host of different games and a plethora of countries around the world, competing in their respective game to take down their opponents and claim victory for their country and region. But with the Malaysia Qualifier set to begin in under a week in Kuala Lumpur, the stage is set for the top 2 teams to earn their spot to represent their region at the WESG Asia-Pacific Countries (APAC) regional qualifier.
Four separate games; Dota 2, Hearthstone, Starcraft II and CS:GO will each have their LAN qualifiers followed by the Online qualifier – leading up to the grand finals, over a split 8 day period. The LAN qualifiers will take place on November 18th and 19th followed by the Online qualifiers from the 21st-23rd of November. The grand finals will take place on November 25th and the 2nd and 3rd of December 2017 at the Orange Esports Stadium.
The Malaysia Qualifier for WESG is organized by Alisports, who were responsible for the first iteration of WESG last year are constantly looking to boost the esports industry in the region. Orange Esports are also on board – hailed as a powerhouse in the region, Orange Esports sponsors and promotes tournaments across Malaysia. The WESG Malaysia Dota 2 Qualifier will boast a RM 17 000 prize pool in total while the top 2 teams will also receive return flight tickets to the WESG APAC Final and their accommodation. The prize pool breakdown is as follows:
1st place: RM 8000.00 Cash Prize + 5 Return flight tickets to WESG APAC Final + Accommodation
2nd place: RM 3500.00 Cash Prize + 5 Return flight tickets to WESG APAC Final + Accommodation
3rd place: RM 2000.00 Cash Prize
4th place: RM 1000.00 Cash Prize
5th/6th place: RM 750.00 Cash Prize
7th/8th place: RM 500.00 Cash Prize

After the success of its first year running, the second year of WESG is sure to be just as exciting for, not only the Dota 2 community but fans of all 4 featured games too. With a sum of $5.5 million across all 4 games and $1.5 million of that set aside for Dota 2 alone, teams will want to make their way through the qualifiers and have their shot at the top spot.
