In what might be the first major tournament for the region, Brasil Game Show has decided to host a $25,000 Dota 2 tournament for Latin American teams this October.
The seventh edition of the Brasil Game Show will be hosting Brasil Game Cup of Dota 2 for the Latin American teams. The tournament will be held off line, from October 9th to 12th, at the Expo Center Norte, in São Paulo. The prize pool of the cup has been announced to be BRL60,000 which roughly converts to $25,000. The competition will be broadcasted on the official channels of Brasil Game Cup and Brasil Game Show on Twitch.
The tournament hopes to promote the budding as well as established Brazilian teams, while at the same time, also inviting international teams. The announcement mentioned that there will be 4 Brazilian teams, in addition to 2 teams from Peru, 1 from Argentina and 1 from Venezuela. This is the first major tournament to be organized in South America, a region where Dota has been continuously growing over the past year with a lot of teams coming up. However, the region has suffered from lack of tournaments and also from server disadvantage on most American or international tournaments.
