Fnatic defeats Empire to earn the gold in MLG TKO Europe

Through a four-game grand final, Fnatic managed to overcome the obstacle of Team Empire to earn the gold medal of the European MLG T.K.O. tournament. They will receive the $14,000 first prize, while Empire will earn $8,500 for their effort.

The European counterpart of MLG T.K.O. has come to an end, with Fnatic emerging victorious from the grand finals. It took four games for Fnatic to take down Empire, with both teams performing very differently from what we witnessed one day ago, when they battled again for D2L.

The drafting for the grand final was not very surprising, with both teams selecting comfortable common heroes. Ember Spirit had a 100% winrate tonight in the hands of Fnatic, with Kai 'H4nn1' Hanbückers being very difficult to control in both games. On the other hand, Roma 'resolut1on' Fominok only managed to get his hands on his favorite Invoker during the second game, helping Empire take their sole victory in the best-of-five series.

Prize distribution :

1st - Fnatic - $14,000
2nd - Empire - $8,500
3rd - RoX.KIS - $4,500
4th/5th - Power Rangers - $1,500
4th/5th - Natus Vincere - $1,500

T.K.O. is a multistage tournament with independent round-robin stages for both America and Europe. A total of $60,000 is up for grabs, $30,000 per division. The teams to be eliminated in each stage are determined by their wins-losses, with the top scoring teams receiving bonus points toward the next stage and a specific number of lower ranked teams being eliminated. Evil Geniuses won the American division after besting Team Liquid, 3-1.
