The former support player of EHOME and Nirvana, Shen 'Crystal' Jiaqi will try his luck in the world of competitive DotA2, after a long hiatus. He is currently searching for a new squad to play with, but not necessarily one of the top ones.
With DotA2 rising in China, more and more Chinese veterans are making their return to eSports. Today, Shen 'Crystal' Jiaqi, the former support player for many important teams of the past, announced his attempt to find a squad and get back into the scene, through his Weibo profile.
Crystal, also known as FCB or SJQ, was a part of the formidable EHOME squad that reached the finals of The International that took place in Cologne, Germany during Gamescom. Following their defeat to Natus Vincere, the club went into a turmoil, only to disband a year later.
With clubs such as Nirvana.cn, CLC and EHOME in his résumé, Crystal possesses the skill and experience to be a huge asset for his team. However, according to his statement, he is not asking for an invite by the biggest clubs in China, and will try to reach the top just as any other ordinary player who attempts to succeed in the Chinese DotA scene.
Crystal also visited the facilities of LGD to hang out with the team and his former teammate Zou '820' Yitian who is currently coaching the main squad of LGD. Crystal was fascinated by the team's training sessions and professionalism, virtues that contributed to his decision to get back in the business.
Translation of Crystal's statement:
While I was reading the forums today, everyone was discussing LGD.Maybe, and I would be mentioned at times as well. Let me explain my situation to everyone: although I stayed with LGD for very long, I am not involved in LGD's roster changes, neither am I involved in their teamwork exercises. I chose to head to LGD because I had lost my path before this, and I shall not say more here.
I was touched by LGD's serious training and attitudes towards Dota while spending time at their base, and I realised that back when I was playing competitively, I was not actually professional, but merely fooling around. I've left some issue in the scene where I can continue playing with the players, but not be teammates with them. As such, I have no desire to join a high-level team immediately, and instead I want to restart from zero, and I will prove it with my actions. I've talked with a few obscure teams recently, and I've already been rejected by their players as a potential teammate because of my negative image.
Right now, I wish to tell everyone who is playing for their dream something: people don't realise what they have until they lose it. After two years of commentating and a year of knowing 820, I've realised that being a good person is the most important thing. I wish everyone can give me a chance, and a belief that I could become a person worthy of recognition and the trust to be a top level player within the Chinese scene. I only wish to restart from zero.
