G-1 League offline finals on 24th of May

The groupstage will be a 1x6 round robin instead of a 2x3.




G-1 League will be holding their offline finals in Shanghai, China from the 24th till the 26th of May. The format of the tournament will be a simple groupstage followed by a playoffs in which the organizers would call "Bubble Race".

G-1 League has announced the details of their LAN finals and it will be held in Shanghai from the 24th of May till the 26th.

The format of the tournament will follow a 2x3 groupstage into an unorthodox playoffs. In the groupstage, the six qualified teams will be placed into two groups in which they will have to play a best-of-three round robin throughout the first and second day.

The playoffs will follow a "Bubble Race" mechanism and it looks like the following:

 

Assuming:
Team A: 1st
Team B: 2nd
Team C: 3rd
Team D: 4th

Match A: Team D vs Team C
Match B: Winner of Match A vs Team B
Match C: Winner of Match B vs Team A

Teams placing fifth and sixth in the round robin will be eliminated from the tournament.

Gosugamers is attempting to reach G-1 higher ups to explain how the tiebreak will work considering the 2x3 groupstage may be very prone to draws.

The schedule for the tournament is extremely unfortunate considering the Eastern qualifiers for The International 3 will also run on the same weekend.
