EG replaces aL in G-1 League

One day before Phase 2 of the Western qualifiers was scheduled to begin, EG replaces Absolute Legends. The European team has forfeited their participation due to work and gave their slot to the North-Americans who will face off against Team Liquid tomorrow.

An hour ago, EG's Jimmy 'DeMoN' Ho stated via Facebook that his team will replace in the upcoming Western G-1 League qualifiers.

Statement by DeMoN on his Facebook page:

"The admins of G-1 League had just informed us we will be replacing Absolute Legends due to some sickness of a couple of players. We are very excited. Thank you to both aL and G-1 for giving us the opportunity. Our next match will be against Team Liquid. ~Fighting"

The North-Americans were previously eliminated by a rulement regarding a DDoS incident against Absolute Legends. The match went 1-0 in favor of aL, but DDoS attacks on EG players overshadowed the second game and after the match was called off, the admins ruled aL as the overall winner due to a gold and experience lead. Sadly, this was only the beginning of a series of attacks, which is why the qualifiers have been postponed until tomorrow.

G-1 League has now confirmed that EG will in fact replace aL and will face off against Team Liquid tomorrow, at 10:00 CET. Absolute Legend's manager, Islam 'Samo' Kenawy stated that due to work commitment and respect to both the team and the tournament, they decided to pass on the participation to EG.

Statement by Islam 'Samo' Kenawy, manager of aL:

"I'm very sad to say that we have decided to step out of the G-1 Qualifier and give our slot to EG.

Since our team does not consist of full-time players, we would be forced to play with 3 stand-ins in our next few matches since they take place early on weekdays when our players are either at work or school. Out of respect to our team and the magnitude of this event, we feel like using this many stand-ins would make it more of a joke than a proper match, and after some discussions we have decided to pass it on to EG.

Thanks to G-1 League for holding this western qualifier and we truly hope they continue doing it, and hopefully next season we'll find a way around it."
