FXOpen picks up all-Korean Dota 2 squad

FXOpen has ventured into Dota 2 by picking up an all-Korean squad led by Jae Hwan ‘Hell’ Kwon. The Dota 2 squad will debut in an undisclosed Korean Dota 2 League before stepping into the international scene.

Renowned forex and Esports company, FXOpen announced today that they have picked up Korean Dota 2 squad. The new team will be led by Jae Hwan ‘Hell’ Kwon who will be taking up the coach and player role.

Joining Hell in the team is Korean Dota 2 national representative, Jeong Ki 'DevilElf' Kim, 2009's DotA representative, Tae Won 'March' Park, Kyung Min 'Sagun' Lee, and Byung Cheon 'Bangfish' Kim.

Team manager, FXOChoya tweeted:

Hello this is FXO's head coach Choya. Our team recently formed a DOTA2 team.We are so happy and excited to start competing in another game. The team will have playing coach Hell leading the likes of national representatives March and Devilelf as well as Sagun and Bangfish. We plan to recruit more players who are currently playing overseas at the moment. You can be sure they will give it their all and practice as much as possible to post results at both national and international tournaments. We sincerely hope you support our new team as much as you have supported our Starcraft 2 team and we promise you will not be disappointed.

FXOpen e-Sports is a competitive gaming division of the forex trading company FXOpen. Since their establishment in 2010, FXO has sponsored 78 Starcraft 2 players including Zenith's captain, Daryl 'iceiceice' Koh and former DotA player, Jon 'Babyknight' Anderson.

FXOpen also hosted several Starcraft 2 tournaments most notably the FXOpen Invitational and FXOpen KOTH.

GOMTV recently broadcasted a Dota 2 announcement on their livestream stating that there will be a Dota 2 announcement on the 3rd of April.

"It's going to be 3rd of April at 9:00pm Korean Time and every Wednesday following".

Not much can be made out of the text but considering it will be announced every Wednesday following, it may be a sign of a weekly tournament. The recent findings of South Korean's Dota 2 servers can probably be linked to this announcement.

FXOpen’s stated that their Dota 2 team will participate in a Korean Dota 2 League before venturing into the international scene. This may be hinting at GOMTV's recent step into Dota 2.

FXOpen Dota 2 roster:

Korea Jae Hwan ‘Hell’ Kwon
Korea Jeong Ki 'DevilElf' Kim
Korea Tae Won 'March' Park
Korea Kyung Min 'Sagun' Lee
