Neolution.Orange stopped the winning streak of Zenith and distinguished themselves as SEA's top dog after being victorious on SEA League.
Zenith has been on a streak lately. Aside from boasting a perfect SEA League record until now, they had also recently won the GosuCup Asia and 2 LAN tourneys at SG. Meanwhile, their Grand Final-opponent Orange had been reformed, and would be competing in a tournament after a short period of inactivity.
Aside from their Bo5 Grand Finals matchup, the Bo3 third-place decider was played as well.
Neolution.Int vs First Departure
NeoES.Int and First Departure split their first two games on separate stomps. On the first match, FD played a very magnificent 16-kill Doom on just 28 minutes of game time. This rarely-picked hero had his way on the map, partially because his team's offensive trilane destroyed SF-carry trilane at top. That Doombringer pick didn't do well on the following game though, as NeoES.Int forced FD to resign after just 15 minutes.
FD opted for Morphling on the tiebreaker. While he was able to secure his farm, he was able to do it at the expense of his teammates. His team was outfarmed by a lot, and NeoES just carefully utilized their lead slowly but surely. With a Weaver and 4 teammates with Dagger, the latter were very mobile and were able to position themselves as they wish during engagements. After 51 minutes, FD finally resigned.
Neolution.Int takes the bronze, 2-1
Zenith vs Neolution.Orange
The match-up between Mushi's and YamateH's team drew lots of attention. Zenith came into the game with an unblemished SEA League record.
That came to quick end, as Orange placed 2 quick wins under their belt. Two 30-minute games, highlighted by Mushi's QoP, paved the way for NeoES.Orange's win. While Zenith tried varying their strategy from Game 1 to Game 2, the results were similar.
It was quite surprising that Zenith still did not ban QoP on the first ban phase of the third game, seeing how much trouble that hero gave them. Instead, they banned DS and Rubick and picked big teamfight heroes in Mag and Enigma. Orange played an offensive trilane with a KotL, TS and SK against Zenith's Visage, Lion and Naga. It was a back-and-forth lane, but Zenith was able to secure a very small kill lead due to the rotations of the mid and top lane. Whatever they were getting in kills were apparently not enough though to compensate the amount of farm being relieved on the other two lanes.
Just when it seemed that Orange was about to steamroll their way into the win, Zenith played their teamfight and initiation strength, winning fights while being significantly down on both exp and gold. As the game dragged though, Orange just methodologically used their gold advantage to siege the towers. They forced pushes with Pipe, positioned themselves well and won the fights at late game.
Neolution.Orange grabs the gold, 3-0
Matthias Meti Beyer, the event's co-organizer, had this to say:
As this was the first of many tournaments, we are really happy to have had such amazing teams showing off their skills and playing until the sweat went into their mousepad, but today is not only the day we have to thank the teams, we have to thank the crew, the partners and the casters for making this possible.
Last but not least at all, we would like to congratulate the winner, Neolution.Orange for this amazing run through our tournament. Within the upcoming time, we will introduce the whole concept and partner list for SEA League and hope to help the gaming scene in our very own way.
ZOTAC, GeIL, Neolution Technology, Invasion.Gigabyte, XFX, Pacific eSports, Twitch, e-Club, DotaTalk, Compgamer, Rapture Gaming Network, ELG and BeyondTheSummit thanks for supporting us always! Thanks for tuning in!
With the win, Orange took the distinction of being named the SEA League champion. They were able to win the tournament quite convincingly while playing with a stand-in, Kecik imba filling in for Ohaiyo.
