SEA League Launched

SEA League was formally announced yesterday, adding another tournament that specifically targets this part of the world.

SEA League is designed with an aim to improve the current gaming scene on Southeast-Asia. 16 of the region's best teams will compete for supremacy, with a prize pool of US$ 1500 to be shared by the top performers. If to find a comparison, its goals are very similar with GEST's - a monthly SEA event.

12 of the 16 invited teams are directly invited by the organizer, whereas the other 4 slots will be taken by the qualifier winners. The qualifiers are two separate 8-team events, where the top 2 will advance to join the main tournament.

The first qualifier will be held 26-27 January, while the second will be at 2-3 February. The tournament proper will start 4 February.

John Lim and Matthias Meti Beyer, the event's organizers, had this to say about the event:

SEA League has been created to evolve the current infrastructure of gaming within the region, we as a team, would like to deliver fun and a professional platform by leaders of industry. Our focus is on streaming games at the hugest qualify level and to produce a great and entertaining show. Our partners have not only opened their pockets, but also will help to strategize and reach our goals.

The games will be brought to the viewer's screens via BeyondTheSummit, where GoDz, LD and Winter will take turns on analyzing and interpreting the game.

The updates about the qualifiers and the invited teams will be disclosed as soon as the information are made available.
