MidiaN and 72o just classified at the WCG UK online preliminary for the National Finals. This preliminary is important for many reasons. We may finally see the UK represented at WCG in Broodwar. This is also the first time a WCG preliminary goes officially PGTour BNet-X system.
This online preliminary produces two slots for the UK National Final. It was as a dual elimination tournament with best-of 3 format. The other two slots will come from an offline Lan in Southampton, Hampshire. If you play Starcraft and can make it to this LAN event, no matter how unskilled you think you are please participate. The UK has had little no historical Broodwar WCG participation, please make it happen this year!

That MidiaN won was not surprise, that there was a Broodwar WCG UK was! We are not sure but there is an open possibility that the winner of the national final might participate in Singapore. The whole event was a surprise to the UK Broodwar community, so we do not have all the full details yet.
We believe this is the first WCG online preliminary that has officially made it a rule that participation has to be at PGTour BNet-X system, thus making history in itself. It yet another reminder why Blizzard needs to give us a working ladder and provide gamers with a fair play environment. This nothing more that what they promised when each and everyone of us bought the game. It is to their best interest. Last year the hacking that occurred during the USA online preliminary was shameful enough, so in essence they failed us, the gamers, and the WCG organization who relied on their expertise to keep the game fair.
Quoting the WCG UK Match Procedure & Format rules:
In the interest of fairness all matches are to be played over the PGTour BNet-X system. All players must register on this system and then use the Bnet-X Launcher to load Starcraft.
I have to praise the United Kingdom WCG organizers. I applaud their stand and their decision.
A big thank you to VdP] who showed up en-mass, even if they did get spanked!
