Rumours (?) of patch 1.12 soon to come

[s]blizzard[/s]

Once again, words have gone around the community regarding a possible patch for StarCraft - Patch 1.12. These are not very likely to be believed, however last time words came out, they proved to be true - patch 1.11 was released shortly after. Fighterforum.com now claims that the information is indeed true and that it is confirmed by Blizzard sources. Read on for a full possible change list for the patch.

After much rumours and talking about the new patch, this quote was posted by a person claiming to be a Crew member of fighterforums; "The news reporters on fighterforum.com collected materials for the concerned persons who work for Blizzard, and ascertained whether it is true."

The quote is perhaps nothing very spectacular itself, if he had not been officially representing Fighterforums.com, a trustworthy Korean progamer picture site which has 80,000 unique visitiors - per day. He furthermore explains that the following list should be a summary of what patch 1.12 is expected to include;

1) In the multiplayer chat screen, you will now be able to see a preview of the map that will be played. Knowing the layout of the map that they’ll be playing on prior to the start of the game will allow players to better prepare their strategies.

2) The patch will add a feature that allows the creator of a private Battle.net game to make the game public under the creator's name in multiplayer chat screen. This will allow game creators to easily open the game up to other players if not all of the players for the private game show up.

3) The patch will add full Korean language support for Battle.net and in-game chat.

4) Another handy feature that the patch will add is a Friends List and button that allows you to keep track of your friends on Battle.net.

5) The patch will also add a Friend Mail feature that allows you to email members of your Friends List.

6) Similar to Warcraft III and Diablo II, the patch will implement password-recovery and email-registration features so that you can recover your password via email.

7) Also implemented with the patch will be a minimap ping, which teammates can use to call attention to or direct each other to different parts of the map.

8) The patch will make it easier for players to set their building, rally points

9) We will be including updated versions of three of the most popular ladder maps: Lost Temple, Dire Straits, and Rivalry. We made changes to these maps in order to better suit the newer style of ladder play.

GosuGamers wishes to emphasize the fact that regardless of what Fighterforum.com claims, we have not had an official confirmation from Blizzard regarding this the new patch, therefore do not expect too much or anything at all. Figherforum claims Blizzard will announce it shortly and encourages patience and so do we. The above changes are something extremely valuable to StarCraft at the moment. Probably the most important ingame change would be the minimap ping which most of us have been longing for ever since WarCraft 3 was released.

No balance changes - typical Blizzard

Most of us, when it comes to forum discussions, dream far away and speak of great balance changes and changes to the game in a new patch. However, Blizzard has repeteadly proven the game balance is perfect and no such patch is needed. Nevertheless, the system itself is getting older with seven years put behind, and an improvement to the the Battle.net design has long since been both expected and hoped for. Even though the lack of balance changes makes this patch change list more reliable, the lack of bug fixes makes it suspicious. The new Blizzard event called the Mystery Map Invitational holds a long list of bugs being prohibited to use in the tournament. This clearly means Blizzard also considers these as just that - "bugs" - and hopefully are intending to fix them once things become less hectical around World of Warcraft.

Whether the above list is the final one, if bug fixes are being added or if a new patch is to be released at all, is yet to be proven. GosuGamers hand you the latest updates once we receive them.
