Update: iPoker Releases Additional Statement to Players Regarding Bot Inquiries

Yesterday, GosuGamers reported a story about confusion amongst players regarding whether or not bots were playing poker on its sites. The story seemingly stemmed from the confusion of one of its member site’s customer representatives, who mistakenly thought that the site employed bots on its poker tables in addition to the clearly identified bots that play in some casino games (like bingo or gin rummy.)

iPoker has issued a follow-up statement to its players clarifying this issue, reaffirming again that the network does not allow bots on its poker tables. Here’s the email in its entirety:
Dear Member,

Following our email from yesterday regarding our stance on BOTs on the network, and feedbacks we have received from you, we wish to emphasize that you are free to share it, and we also recommend that you’ll share it with the relevant bodies inside and outside your organizations, such as your customer support and affiliates.

We would also like to inform you that iPoker expands its guidelines for player’s alias – Nickname:

1. Any nickname that contains the word “bot” with no proper meaning in English, will be automatically frozen for investigation by iPoker collusion department.

2. Should iPoker collusion department be satisfied that the account is being used only by its sole account holder, and that no use of an automated “bot” was done with it, we will then allow to unfreeze the account, with a new nickname.

3. The above guidelines apply immediately. We will begin this process today, and recommend that you contact your players who has such nicknames in order to change their them.

4. Please contact iPoker collusion department ([email protected]) in order to execute these nicknames.

Please find below the most updated stance regarding BOTs on the network:

We would like to take this opportunity to publish the network’s policy and stance on automated “bots” being used on iPoker.

Our policy is clear:

1. A poker account is to be used exclusively by the registered account holder and the use of any automated “bots” is prohibited.

2. In all cases where iPoker security department is satisfied that an account is being used in any other way than by the sole registered account holder the account is closed.

3. This is done in every case regardless of how much rake the account has contributed, and forum posts that suggest iPoker ignores “bots” because of the rake they generate are very much wide of the mark.

The network’s security department regularly checks suspicious accounts at all stake levels and is freezing accounts for failing our “bot” testing procedures, as well as taking firm measures towards affiliates of such “bots” rings.

The integrity of the network is our highest priority and it is essential that players know they are in a secure environment. We will always investigate any account that we suspect of using “bots” and if the members of the iPoker network have concerns over particular accounts we request to receive these concerns and inquiries for investigation.
