Gnimsh edges out Artosis in SSC

After the rout in the first match, DogeHouse members Artosis and Gnimsh didn't disappoint their fans with an epic battle going the distance. In the end it was the Polish player having the better answers in a literal fatiguing clash.

The first match of the day between Trump and ek0p might have been driven by the story line and the anticipation, the match ultimately fell way short of expectations. ek0p's team mates from DogeHouse salvaged that situation right after with an epic showdown that went through all their decks and through all the cards in the final battle.

First it didn't quite look like it would go like that, since Artosis fired first with an aggressive Murloc Warlock, catching Gnimsh's Druid off guard and overwhelming him with the sea creatures and timely top decks at the fortunate moment. The known aggro player Gnimsh was beaten by his own forte, getting rushed into a 0-1 deficit. So the master of the quick matches responded with an aggressive Warlock of his own, not featuring any annoying Murloc's though, but the "Zoo" approach of pressure with [card]Doomguard[/card], [card]Shieldbearer[/card] and [card]Dire Wolf Alpha[/card]. He faired well with it three complete matches, eliminating Artosis' Warlock , Druid and Warrior, the latter with a ragequit by Artosis after he used [card]Tinkmaster Overspark[/card] and lost the coin flip with the 5/5 starring at his measly life total of 7.

It even looked good in the potential clinching match for the Polish player, going up against Thrall and his elements, pushing Artosis life down, trading efficiently and having a firm grip on the board control until the [card]Lightning Storm[/card] hit home hard. The fortunate top deck for Artosis turned the game with [card]Unbound Elemental[/card] on board to witness and leach strength off of it, clearing the board and creating a viable threat for Gnimsh. The Polish player desperately tried to finish off the fight, but [card]Feral Spirit[/card] protected Artosis' 5 life long enough for him to turn the game around completely.

So it was up to Gnimsh to change his class once again, with Artosis looking to follow up his game comeback with the whole series. The Thrall-on-Thrall action was not bringing a decision in the series, as Artosis kept filling up the board, constantly forcing Gnimsh to overload and delay crucial turns like his [card]Fire Elemental[/card]. [card]Nat Pagle[/card] on the board for more than four rounds, a strong board presence and an overloaded opponent created enough of an early edge for Artosis to take the control and never let go of it in the process - bringing this series to the absolute pinnacle of excitement in a Game 7.

Control Warrior against control Shaman, Garrosh against Thrall, Gnimsh against Artosis for the last time. Once again it looked good for Artosis early on with good board presence and forcing Gnimsh to play his [card]Grommash Hellscream[/card] before [card]Alexstrasza[/card], taking away one lethal threat right away. The turning point of the match occured a bit later though, with Artosis having Totems and [card]Al'Akir the Windlord[/card] on the field, running into a [card]Brawl[/card], which Al'Akir won, only to receive a [card]Fiery War Axe[/card] swing straight to the face. The clear board invited Artosis for [card]Feral Spirit[/card], who found their master in [card]Whirlwind[/card] and [card]Baron Geddon[/card] right away. As Artosis used [card]Hex[/card] on Geddon, Gnimsh brought out [card]Ysera[/card], the only thing Artosis could not find the sufficient answer for. He silenced her, but the presence of a 4/12 on the board was way too much to handle for the bottom of the Shaman deck, who had no firepower left, no big minions and no hope.

Gnimsh now moves on to face Trump for a chance to reach the Upper Bracket Finals, while Artosis and ek0p already putting their tournament lives on the line in the Lower Bracket. The loser of that match will be send straight to the doghouse with no chance to fight for the SeatStory Cup title.
