GEST playoffs see Mineski, Trust in Winner Bracket final

Posted by Ulrich "KongoTime" Hanten 3 months ago

The first GEST playoff matches have concluded, seperating Trust and Mineski from StarBoba and Neolution. First named couple were warmed up when entering the double elimination bracket, after coming from a series of tiebreaker games.

While the most popular Filipino team had to survive a five-melee lineup by Velocy in the group A decider, Trust went through a total of three matches before being able to claim a spot by the side of StarsBoba. Following a three-way tie in group C, the Thais were to face iZone first and won, however agreed on a rematch after their victory versus SkyNet, based on the favourable hosting situation exerienced yesterday.

Finding a fair host also marked the key problem in the playoffs as Trust and StarsBoba went through lengthy negotiation sessions before coming to an inevitably forced agreement on where to play. When both sides entered their lanes, MitH had no trouble to seal the affair after 28 minutes.

In the earlier finished first semi final, Mineski went up against Orange-executors Neolution and fielded a heavily ganking lineup with Templar and Nerubian Assassin in the leading roles. Even though the Thais were able to add their own emphases to the game, Mineski proved to be more experienced in later phases and achieved a deserved win.

It remains unknown what the first loser bracket round holds in store hosting-wise for StarsBoba. Given the performances in the first matches, the Vietnamese are highly endangered of dropping out, while Mineski get to face Trust in an eagerly awaited rematch of the SMM 2011 loser bracket final.
