With a record of four wins and three losses, LGD regrettably missed advancing to the offline finals of the World DotA Championships by merely one placing during the first phase of qualifiers. Speaking up about his hopes for WDC and his team, xiao8 sits down for an interview with a reporter from the WDC committee.
Give everyone a short introduction of yourself.
-"Hi everybody, I'm xiao8 from LGD. I'm incredibly happy to accept this interview from WDC."
Share with us briefly how your training sessions usually work out.
-"We are a new team, and apart from DDC, I have never played with the other members in a team before. Hence, aspects such as playing style, internal management, and role distribution have not been confirmed yet. We will still need some time to adjust ourselves.
We are planning to experiment with DD and myself playing semi-carries/solo mid while DDC and xiaoD play support."
We are actually in the midst of planning something interesting for WDC this year - for example, a friendly basketball match among the players. What are your thoughts on this?
-"I must explicitly state that I do not know how to play basketball. Maybe I can still handle a game of pool.. *laughs*"
Last year, your team made an early exit after losing to Nirvana.cn. What are your thoughts on last year's competition?
-"Well, the tournament last year left me with many regrets and memories that were etched deeply in my mind. After playing the tournament, it so happened that Crystal left us as well. The main problem we faced was our team's inexperience which caused us to perform poorly last year.
That is why this year, I am looking forward to WDC, and I hope to give it my best till the very end."
With how the online qualifiers are going, your team will need to rest on the power of your fans and their votes, you know that, right?
-"We have not been playing up to our expectations in our recent qualifier matches since we are still in the midst of adjusting ourselves. So we are at a point where our chances for advancing to the finals are very bleak [interview conducted before results were out], and we would like everyone's support.
If we get your support and make it to the offline finals, we will be sure to give everyone the show of their lives."
With all the mid-tier teams currently looking good, is the team feeling the heat yet?
-"Of course, there'll be pressure to win, with the mid-tier teams having a couple of relatively unknown players or semi-professional teams. We are definitely confident of winning our place in the finals."
What will you do to get LGD's votes up and the team into the finals?
-"Just for the votes, I'll release a nude shot of myself in my youth!"
