"I find soloing very exciting."

iG.Y at Wuxi: YYF, 830, Benz, CH, Chuan

Currently one of the fiercest solo mids in the Chinese competitive scene, ChuaN has established a reputation for aggressive yet stable play. iG.Y recently finished first runner's up at Wuxi Champions Cup. In a special collaboration between GosuGamers and SGamer, Chuan answers a couple of selected questions on his new team and his thoughts on the Chinese-European rivalry.

Hi, Chuan. Firstly, a big thanks for accepting this interview from GosuGamers. Do you regret not being able to represent China at Gamescom? What would your chances of winning the event have been had you participated with ZSMJ?
-"Hi. I'm honored to do the interview. The organizers did a great job with Gamescom, and we really regret not being able to attend. I guess even if we went with LGD, we could have taken the championship, or we could just as easily have been knocked out in the first round."

How has the switch to iG.Y and addition of Benz affected your team's overall play?
-"It affected us to a certain extent. Because YYF, CH and myself were switching roles, we needed some time to practice together as well as get our team chemistry right."

Why did you decide to play solo mid? Was it a team decision?
-"Yup, we had a meeting and this was our decision."

What role do you prefer to play?
-"Well, I guess anything that lets me solo - I personally find soloing a lane very exciting."

Which European player or team do you respect the most and why?
-"Oh, it has to be Na`Vi - I think they have phenomenal teamwork."

What are your expectations for HFGL? Are you confident of taking first place?
-"Every team that participates in this competition will want to take first place; we're definitely no exception."

Are you still in contact with ZSMJ? How is your relationship with him?
-"Yes, we still do keep in touch, just like old times. The only difference between our relationship then and now is that we are no longer teammates."

What is your proudest achievement to date?
-"It would be taking first at this year's G-League Season 1."

Do you miss your own country? Are you still in contact with your Malaysian friends?
-"I do, and sometimes I'll talk to them over MSN."

Do you think China still has an edge in DotA?
-"Now, it's hard to say who's ahead. We'll have to wait for WDC to decide."

Will you start a career in DotA 2 when it comes out?
-"I haven't decided, so let's see how things go. I'm considering only if my teammates are interested on making the switch."

At the recently concluded Wuxi Cup, your team made an astonishing comeback from the Loser's Bracket, but unfortunately fell to champions DK. Do you have anything to say regarding the entire tournament?
-"All I can say is, the fault lies with us. However well we played, our bans and picks would have ensured we lost."

Many spectators attribute your team's failure at the tournament due to an overemphasis on early game ganking while neglecting mid-late game. What do you think?
-"Both styles of play have their advantages and disadvantages, and I just feel that we should have made the more prudent choice of securing our mid-late game instead."

DK is playing at top form at the moment, taking both ACG and Wuxi Cup. What do you have to say about their roster synergy and performance?
-"By virtue of clinching the championship, they have already proven themselves. I wish them all the best in ACG."

With the ongoing WDC qualifiers, your team is current tying DK at third place with 3 wins and 2 losses, while iG.Z are leading the table with no losses. Do you feel any pressure?
-"If DK and iG.Y win our subsequent matches, we will both qualify for the finals. So I guess all that matters is how we play our next few matches."

Alright, thank you for the interview. Any last words?
-"A big thanks to iG and all those who support us!"
