Minitito, a top-tier DotA player most recently seen helping power Croatia into the semi-finals of the MYM Prime Nations Tournament, has officially rejoined team unique. Gosugamers' KongoTime recently sat down with Minitito to talk about the future of unique, his long career in DotA and his future in DotA.
You've already played for unique once, back when it was a Danish team. Is it a coincidence that you are wearing this tag again?
“
Yes, I used to play for unique 2 years ago, but that was with Ducky, Valeur and Babyknight [who no longer play for unique]. It is really a coincidence that I am wearing the unique tag again; toxi asked me to play with them and it just so happens that they play for unique.
”
That sounds like its mostly toxi who wanted you in the team. How well do you know the other players?
“
Well, one of their players went inactive and I started to play some funwars with them and it worked nice. I really didn't have much of a chance to play with the other players-- only a few games in leagues -- but I got to know them really fast and they are really nice guys.
”
It’s true that snoop went inactive, but the unique roster still has seven active players. How do you decide who gets to play?
“
Recently, I’ve played all the games because I’m the new player and I need to adapt to unique’s playstyle. The other [players on unique] switched in and observed, so it wasn’t a problem. As for the future, we’ll see – it’ll probably be that the people who are online will play, and if we have more than 5, we’ll arrange who will play so that everyone will be happy.
”
You have always seemed to like heavy casters like Puck, Queen of Pain, Windrunner or Lion—heroes that have mostly been played by BABARRR on unique. Do you think unique’s team play will suffer if either BABARR or you switch roles, or are you versatile enough to handle heroes of other classes? (Correction: These heroes were played by former unique player, swush.)
“
Yes, I like heroes like Puck, WR and QoP because they are very mobile and can gank a lot. I don’t think the general teamplay will suffer if we switch roles, though. I can play every hero, and we always give players the heroes that suit them best.
”
Unique is currently considered a top 8 team in Europe. In your opinion, how do you think the can improve? Do you think the team is already at its peak?
“
As with everything else in life, practice makes perfect—we need to scrim and try new strategies that fits us well. I believe that, in the future, we’ll become better and better so I don’t think the team is at its peak at the moment.
”
You’ve played with many former and current top tier teams throughout your career – early on, you played for SK, dignitas and teamQ; more recently, you’ve played for unique, tribal.int and, now, you’re back on unique. One might say that the teams you played for in the past were closer to world class than the ones you played for later on. Do you feel you are a better player today or back in the days when you were playing for SK or teamQ?
“
I was, without a doubt, a better player before, when I had more time to play DotA. But, I just recently started to play a little more, when I have a break from school and some free time so I hope I’ll get my game back up again soon.
”
Aside from your new team, you are also representing Croatia in the MYM Nations tournament and achieved three straight wins there. Not many had you on their list of favorites. What makes this Croatian team so strong?
“
When the tournament started, we knew we had good players and that, with good teamplay, we could go far in the tournament. We didn’t prepare at all for it; we didn’t even play one game of funwars together but we worked very well together in the games. So I really don’t know what makes this team so strong. Maybe, it is because we are just having fun playing together and enjoying DotA.
”
Which of the remaining countries (USA, Serbia, Denmark, Ukraine, Russia) do you fear the most?
“
I really can’t say; the tournament is entering its final stage and all will try their best to win it, so I think they all have a good chance of winning it.
”
If you had to guess a favorite, who would it be?
“
Ukraine.
”
Tell us a bit about your future plans in gaming. Will we still have you in DOTA 2? Are your currently playing HoN or LoL and do you want to switch? Or are you expecting your time with unique to be the conclusion of conclude your career?
“
I don’t play HoN or LoL, so I’ll keep playing DotA with unique until DotA 2 comes out and then we’ll see how it goes.
”
Good for you. Thanks a lot for the interview.
“
Shoutout to all my fans and cro pro ekipi iz cro1 :D
