Blizzard's DotA intended to launch with HotS

Joystiq.com reports that the Blizzard DotA project is still a work in progress, and that the developers are aiming to launch it around the time of Heart of the Swarm.
"We basically put it back up in the shop and did some massive overhauls to some things, which I'm not going to go into specific detail about," said Chris Sigaty, lead producer of Starcraft 2. "But yeah, we are working on Blizzard Dota, and we do intend to launch it at or around the time of Heart of the Swarm, but the official details will be online later."
The sequel to StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty, Heart of the Swarm, has no release date, but as late as in March 2011, lead designer Dustin Browder believed the game had about one more year in development.
Blizzard announced their version of DotA back at BlizzCon 2010 and had already a playable demo. Whether the overhauled version resembles any of it, it remains clear that it will pick up the fanbase struggle with Riot Games's League of Legends, S2 Games' Heroes of Newerth and Valve's DotA sequel.

| Are they kidding? dota in sc2 is mass fail, let sc2 be the best strategy 1v1 game. Dont try to make a dota map it will fail, 10x. |
| So, Blizzard wants to take a bite off a growing niche? Not surprising. However, DotA has always been about balance and feeling, something that only IceFrog can provide. It takes a lot of practice and experience to understand the game even on a basic level, so I'm not going to bet my money on Blizz creating anything remotely close to DotA as it is now. DotA 2 please. |

| Don't know why people you bash that guy, he spoke slowly and clearly, nothing wrong about that. Concerning sc2dota, I really don't care whether it's just a copy, if it's going to be better than the "original" dota, heck, I'm going to play sc2dota, if not, oh well, we'll still have a bunch of other option like LoL and HoN. And #21 No, it's not. It's far from being balanced. |
| And people can whine as much as you want, this game will find its own players, don't worry about that. Same was with LoL and HoN. Holywars still going on, but a great number of people play both LoL and HoN. Don't forget, it's blizzard, few major tournaments with good prize money(obviously blizzard can afford that) and wow, what do you know, sc2dota is quite poplar already. |

| AEON OF STRIFE- GO GOOGLE IT DotA was a copy of above mentioned map, so stop talking about them cloning icefrog's game. IceFrog really did huge job to make DotA so big, but he didn't create dota from zero, but just sucedeed Eul and Ginsoo in dota developement. Hope BlizzDOTA will be free, so I can play a game or two, of course DotA 2 will be primarly concern for me :) |
